Singapore made it a point to pay their politicians extremely well during their formation specifically as an anti-corruption tactic. Obviously they also have... heavier-handed... policies too, but I do think it's a big deal.

Wotc: "We couldn't ban vivi, what of all the players who invested in it?"

Me: *Gestures broadly at literally everyone else*

But did you earn 500 Gold?

Those formats are fine, but the tournament itch and road to the PT are why I've always played Magic - even when I can't put the time into making that realistic I enjoy helping the team succeed.

TL;DR competitive Magic is slowly getting choked out, despite anything being reported during investor calls, and the long term health of the game is being compromised for short-term profit.

I truly believe that some stores over over-reporting attendance to keep their WPN status, and it's skewing perceptions of how well comp is doing at the local level. Just one piece of the puzzle.

And we're talking about a HIGHLY competitive area here in the 919 zipcode - we've put a player in the top 8 or win-and-in of the last like 6 major non-PT tournaments. Multiple double-feature match rounds in Baltimore.

This is actual news today from judges and store managers in my area, not heresay or speculation.

*Winning the interior battle on both sides of the ball
*Grealy improved LB play over the average for the year
*Coaching starter adjustments going into the week
*Admittedly the wind was a huge factor

Panthers took packers defensive strength (edges) out of the game by running well through packs subpar guards. The strong wind took their offensive strength out of the game, so things really lined up well to win a run game showdown.
