While not the menace Cauldron was, it should be noted that the Izzet shell is absolutely alive and well (sorry) with an 18+ dmg 2 card burst combo available as early as turn 4.

Hey @jenn-the-judge.bsky.social question regarding Koh, the Face Stealer from new set works with gaining Exhaust activated abilities. Can you pay 1 life to "refresh" the exhaust ability, or do you need to change to a new card, then back (effectively making refreshing cost 2 life)?

That's a wrap in Silksong for me! I had to look up 1 tool and 2 relics to finish it off. Game was a fantastic next step for Hollow Knight, and I loved the movement upgraded especially.

Randomly dusted off rakdos reanimator for the standard challenge this morning. 4-2, died for top 8 last rd vs. prowess due to some very unfortunate timing on drawing tapped lands. Overwhleming Surge felt like the best answer in that matchup though, and still think the deck has legs!

Design on FF cards seems to vary wildly from 'tremendously awesome' to 'used the lowest hanging fruit possible'. Case in point on the latter - Ultima Weapon. In VII, Ultimate weapons had hidden abilities - Ultima Weapon was more powerful the higher your HP. Total miss here just using a bunch of 7s

Last, but certainly not least, is the best card in the set for Eternal Formats. Ugin is absolutely busted and we'll see a resurgence of Tron lands in Modern because of him. He'll also end up in multiple Eldrazi builds, too. I really want to make this work in standard...

The entire 'village' cycle is niche playable, though the green one is the worst of the bunch. I think (B) Great Arashin City is the most generically playable, and (U) Mistrise Village, while being extremely overrated, WILL see play in Eternal Formats. It's quite good with Scapeshift.

My vote for the best gold card in the set. Excellent stats, protects your best onboard threat from a sweeper, and a very powerful effect. It should be noted you won't get any attack triggers on the exiled card. Imagine Rot-Curse Rakshasa under this guy!

Very speculative, but the stats and abilities are certainly there. Getting a solid ratio of creatures and spells with good enough mana is going to take a lot of tinkering, but the card seems powerful enough to try.
