When you drill down, their real complaint is that the new school will block their view and they don’t want noisy kids in their quiet neighbourhood.

None of it. If you talk to these NIMBYs, their arguments are that traffic will be completely out of control (unfounded claim) or that the building being taller will “ruin the character of the neighbourhood” (a neighbourhood where every other building is taller than the school will be).

Not disputing that this might usually be the case, but for this school the biggest issue was pushback from the ministry for more than a decade. “Oh, but there’s room in other schools in the city, maybe we can re-balance catchments” was their argument, ignoring the commute it would require.

Unironically better than half the animations I’ve seen in my time on the internet.

I found out today that, in addition to this stupid little kiosk, they have also been handing out flyers to local businesses; as far as I’ve seen none of them have put them out to mislead customers, but it’s irritating at the very least.

There are two perspectives that I think about:

1. The best captain in terms of us as viewers watching them and being entertained, etc
2. The best captain in-universe

In the fiction of Star Trek she’s one of the most decorated captains in Starfleet history, which is worth something.
