The main problem is the duck curve. In California, solar panels generally have to turn off because there is too much supply & not enough demand at noon. If anything, we should be more like Hawaii and pretty much demand batteries w/ solar.

Fair enough, maybe 'unpopular' is a poor word choice. I'd go with 'controversial', meaning there is enough negative valence that making it a major planks is foolish.

The Base App is a Farcaster client. Someone told me there's a way to use social features without an FC account, but I haven't found it, and perhaps they were getting confused with Zora.

The Base App certainly comes from Coinbase, Farcaster absolutely didn't come from Coinbase. Not sure if you or your friend was insinuating the latter.
