By now I share my living room with five Schlumbergera plants in four different colors. They flower when nothing else does and bring some color into winter days.

A bit of color in winter. In profile the flowers look especially beautiful...a bit like the colibris that pollinate them. Plus you can eat the fruits if you play colibri with a brush.

Flowers of what I suspect to be a red Sedum telephium variant (please correct me if I am wrong) in front of Sedum pachyclados and Sempervivum.

This cactus flowers regularly until autumn and from a very young age. The flower changes color from yellow to salmon after some days.

Echeveria pulvinata 'Ruby'. Rosettes form from a stem. The fluffy green leaves show bright red color in the tips. Echeveria pulvinata var. frigida. The fluffy white hairs on the bluish green leaves look like the plant is covered in frost.

Due to the rose petal shape of its leaves Echeveria lilacina rosettes look like rose flowers. The current pink borders of the lilac leaves enhance that impression.

Mine is probably a S. pteranthus.
Plate-sized flower with thin beige to yellowish outer petals and snow-white large inner petals. On the right the cactus with its snake-like growths and aerial roots.

German book stores now have isles with books banned in the US. I got myself some very nice reading material additions there last week.
