Hogwarts Legacy was an enormous game and I suspect that most fans are only keeping up with Potter news not JK news specifically. Fantastic Beasts collapsed because of Depp not JK.

Even the guys behind The Expanse, which makes a lot of effort towards the science being close to real and believable, admit that they fudge things regularly for plot reasons.
