Sometimes I see insects that I’ve never seen before, and I feel like a kid again 😊 Podisus placidus, a young one at least. It’s a species of predatory stink bug in the family Pentatomidae.

Spotted this Striped Fishing Spider (Dolomedes scriptus) out of the corner of my eye while wading in the Cascade River just south of Grand Marias, MN. 3 inches wide! The tend to sit with their back legs in lane, using their front to grab insects and small fish.
