Solidarity with all those @theguardian.com journalists on strike today over the proposed sale of @observeruk.bsky.social to a commercial start up, whose output is kept behind a paywall.

Don't do this, Scott Trust.

The need for a strong, free & independent press has never been greater. 1/2
Today I’m on strike. For journalism without fear or favour; for the future of the Guardian; and most of all for our beloved newspaper The Observer, 233 years old today, being put at existential by its billionaire owner. Happy birthday to The Observer 🎂❤️.

The liars, of course, have all moved on to new cons & deceptions. The fishing industry can't. A vaguely honest media would be holding Farage & the rest to account for this instead of promoting a meaningless petition...

Fishermen left feeling 'betrayed' by Brexit

Kemi Badenoch tells Keir Starmer that "we had a Budget in March this year and tractors were not blockading the streets of Whitehall afterwards."

Anyway, here's the 'go slow' protest by farmers that blockaded the streets around Parliament following the Conservative Government's last Budget in March

We can’t have another referendum on Brexit because that was the will of the (lied to) people 8 years ago…

But we’re supposed to have another general election despite having had one 4 months ago

Right wing bellends are f*cking hilarious.

An impromptu snow day, which was a pleasant surprise. Delayed start tomorrow as well. There are the odd perks with teaching aren’t there.

The temperature in my classroom. Heating has been broken after boiler smoked 2 weeks ago. We have a Trust learning walk today.
My prediction,
‘you’re class weren’t focused during your input’ ‘well yes they were shivering’
‘You need to make sure you are challenging your pupils so they are engaged’ 🤦🏼‍♀️

New development, our Trust is no longer posting vacancies on Local Authority website due to the cost. Is this standard practice now?

Really demoralised about work but the session this evening really lifted the mood. Never have I have ever felt so inept at my job. I’ve had my fair share of poor lessons but this feels different, it’s not something I have done wrong it’s been made to do something with no evidence to base it.

Feel physically ill haven’t felt like this about work in a longtime. What a great feeling when you’ve been working so hard to help support your school but you are made to feel completely inept. #prescriptivecurriculum

Sunday afternoon walk along the seafront topped off with a coffee and salt caramel cookie from Teign Bean. Can’t lie, not feeling joyous that weekend is over already but it was a welcome 45 minutes of distraction. #sundayafternoonwalk

Not a Bluesky but very much enjoyed the evening run on Haldon Forest with just the resident deer for company. Lovely view over the River Exe too. I even turned off the headphones as well so I could just listen to the darkness.

12 years of teaching and yesterday I was told that I shouldn’t be adding to a ‘non scheme’ in a lesson as that’s not what it says to do on the ‘non scheme’ that is now apparently a ‘scheme’. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I did what it said and then got the children to write a diary entry writing in the first person. 🤔

Due to OfSTED coming our head has decided that we now have to produce medium term planning for English for the whole 3-4 week sequence. Reasonable? #teaching

Reposting this again - please watch. I am so grateful for Lewis's outrage. Women are being harassed, maimed and killed because of these laws, all in the name of "pro-life".
The plight of women in Florida is dystopian, including the rise of fake abortion clinics offering the untested practice of "abortion reversal." After the failure of the abortion rights referendum in the state, the situation will get worse. Our News Agents film. www.youtube.com/watch?v=df5B...

As a ITT mentor in a small school the @schoolsweek.bsky.social news that 20 hours compulsory training has been scrapped is a relief. Not only was it extra work but was I getting paid for my time!? Nope. Been a mentor 4 times, it’s already pretty hard work let along with extra to do. #teacherworkload
