Living at the intersection of community reinvestment and health inequity.
All opinions are my own. Don't blame NCRC.
I've had a couple people ask for my take on Brian Thompson's murder. I have given non-answers beyond rejecting violence. This is a complicated and broken system that health insurance is a part of.
The best take, from the head of Academy Health. If you have 20 minutes, listen to the entire thing.

Things I did not have on my GIH bingo card: @julierovner.bsky.social with a poop joke on stage. WaPo sees a similar use in my 2 dog household.

Listening to @julierovner.bsky.social and What the Health on the way home today. Having real feels about the pushback on Medicaid 1115 Waivers. PSH has been shown repeatedly and to reduced costs greater than its subsidy amount. news.wjct.org/first-coast/...

1895 to 1970, Colorado women's college houses out of this building... It sat vacant for 30 years, and is now the St. Elizabeth School (K-8 sliding scale parochial school with 33/33/33 income distribution)... Its modern use is only possible because of a commercial community land trust.

Ok, so not the sort of health equity that my epidemiologist friends think of, but all health outcomes start from community context. Excited for 2 days with community development professionals at NCRC's first Just Economy Regional Mountain West Summit. #ReinvestDenver

With all the acrimony about the impending government shutdown, too many folks seem to have missed the bipartisan health system patch coming out of the Senate. Besides the $5.8 Billion for CHCs, $1.2B goes to expand RN education, and $1.8B to get more Primary care docs. Celebrate the good policies!

Good morning Skeeters! Random thought of the morning, with all the efforts to empower Community Health Workers during the pandemic, we still are afraid to support them in their role as Community Advocates. Community health has more to do with what's in the community than individual behaviors.

Can we talk more about the impact chronic stress has on the health outcomes of too many communities in our country? It cuts across socioeconomic boundaries and is intersectional. Queer, PoC, Female, income constrained, housing unstable, anything that keeps us in an elevated fight or flight.
