"How's Your War / Time to End It" poster campaign underway, aimed at lawmakers and others with influence.

5 posters so far, with postcard versions also.

Got some cheap ink and good paper. Printing is a go.

Here's the first one.

A poem for while I work on posters.

---

"Stand up
for your rights
And your neighbors

Stand up
with your love
And your rage

Don’t give
those pendejos
the limelight

Get up
on the fucking stage"

A cabbage butterfly resting in the garden last evening.

It's a good day to rest and enjoy time with friends and family; and if you cannot, another day will do as well.

There is time to process and work against the effects of HR1. There is good work being done already.

We will continue, friends.

An interesting experiment last week with a very slow film (ISO 3). Visited a nearby city garden on a bright day, shot with a Nikkormat at 1/60s shutter speed, and pushed the film 1 stop in development.

Success! High contrast, low grain.

Sunset yesterday at Wingra Dam, watching waterfowl as the lake turned copper in the fading light. #birds

This week I learned about the Lake Wingra dam in Madison, WI and the muskellunge that leap there this time of year.

They rarely succeed, and the water is low this week, but it's been wonderful to visit, with many other people coming and going during this special couple of weeks.

Got out to Gov. Nelson State Park on a bright day, with a Nikkormat + SFX 200 film (partly infrared-sensitive) / red #25 filter to darken the sky.

The prairie is only beginning to awaken, so dark wood and bright pale grasses provide strong contrast.

This bur oak is my favorite local tree. :)

I watched an hour or so of the eclipse this morning - a beautiful warm night (for March).

I love to see the stars appear again as the shadow encroaches; my favorite: just before totality, with a little bright sun still reflected from the top edge of the disc.

Another local #bird visitor this cold and snowy week - one of the downy woodpeckers that frequents a local elm.

Hello, moon. :)
(8.1% illuminated.)

The US state department can remove the "T" from LGBT on its travel page (this occurred today), but our moon shines down on all of us just the same.

We will all keep fighting. My trans friends and family are as real and important today as they were yesterday.

Bonus cat picture - a gray cat is an excellent assistant when testing midtones. :) You can see that the sun here was bright even for ISO 64, but the shadow tones are very nice.

I had the chance recently to shoot a roll of FPP's "Dracula", a reroll of Svema 64 - a low ISO, fine-grained, high-resolving film. It worked out wonderfully for this high-contrast snow and stone image. 📷 Nikkormat FN / Series E 50mm - a very reliable camera and lens combo.

The WI emergency management site is down today in complaince with the DEI Executive Order. No explanation. Other WI military sites are also down, including the WI National Guard. #WI #military #dei

A local squorb for #squirrelappreciationday. The neighbor has been feeding a few by hand and they are getting both bolder and rounder thanks to his efforts.

A young sparrow warming up in the sun in -10F, -30F wind chill this morning. A #bird and a note on the strength we have when we are in a bad place.

Last month I went to a local pier on a foggy, warm day to look out at the ice and the gray; a great number of geese were out on the lake as well.

Scratches in the heavy wood tabletop at a nearby coffeeshop look like a mouse. :)

Portrait of a certain crow friend visiting this week to get snacks with some younger crows; about 4 years old, and always a fan of camera attention. Local #birds!

It's late for roses, but I am grateful. Watching for the sun for two days; at last - a little light.

Every day: what will happen, to all of us? What next to do?

But sunlight remains sunlight, and a rose blooms regardless of the cloudy days and the darker ones to come.

End of the season.

The last of the tall sunflowers held out against the rain and wind a few more days last week, gone a few days ago.

Against the sky it reminded me of a human figure, a sharp-faced scarecrow against winter.

📷 D5600 / kit 70-300mm zoom. A simple but reliable lens.

We had a little light this afternoon; I stalked it for anything it might catch.

An oak leaf inches into shadow in the short afternoon. Its warmth and curves are bold against the pale blue paint beneath.

This friend and two other crows have been visiting lately as autumn crow activities (mostly a mystery to me) proceed. I suspect they are a yearling and two younger adults, maybe not pairing up this year. They skip crow meetings to come ask for hard-boiled eggs, and delight in eating just the yolks.

This friend is resting nearby; here she is earlier this year, dozing. (She is yellow when not photographed in black and white.)
