An inconsistent ally is an unreliable ally said FT’s Martin Wolf. An unreliable ally isn’t really an ally imho. I’ve gone from Atlanticist to Gaullist faster than I could ever imagine.
This line from a French minister points out a major trust issue in the US government and its citizens: “We cannot leave the security of Europe in the hands of voters in Wisconsin every four years.”

People going nuts on the FT headline naming Trump as person of the year. Well done to the @financialtimes.com and staying clear sighted.
Interesting watching people miss the point. Like or loath, he’s become the most consequential person of 2024. Instead we demand only to see what we like, instead of the most pertinent.

Audiobooks are fantastic and great in their own right but it’s not reading. The clue is in the word audio. And that’s just fine. It doesn’t need to justify itself or be measured against reading.
