Teaching 1L contracts has been SUCH a joy this Fall, but could not have done it w/o support from our Dean! Today's Brooklyn Bridge hypo brought her into the class, and the students had a lot of fun figuring out whether they could revoke before she crossed the bridge. 😂 @ugaschooloflaw.bsky.social

I have a paper on this. Both administrations -- Biden and Trump -- touted their trade policies as helping workers in the United States while trying to accomplish other objectives. Trump's policy is just particularly egregious given that not only will it fail to help those workers, it will cost them.

Loving the realization among the Financial Times group that liberalized trade (without appropriate domestic policies in place) left workers vulnerable to job losses, unemployment, and declining standards of living. Looking forward to the revived conversations coming out of all this.

The draft US-Indonesia Framework for Reciprocal Trade includes commitments to internationally recognized labor rights, a prohibition on the importation of goods produced by forced labor, de jure protection of freedom of association and collective bargaining, and enhanced labor law enforcement.

This was a great talk by @katmacfarlane.bsky.social on “The Fundamental Alternation Fallacy: Higher Ed and the ADA.” Sooo relevant and timely and generated a lot of thinking around the winners and losers of high ed political economy. #ComplianceNet2025

Fun Fact: When the negotiators decided that fair labour standards should be protected in international trade, the UK joined Czech in complaining they should be able to continue using forced labor, and wanted to except that standard.

Accepting a luxury carrier from a foreign government to use as Air Force One. What a marvelous idea. Apart from the obvious sinking-into-the-depths-of-bribery bit, I cannot think of a single thing that could go wrong.

Glad to see that the International Labor Organization has finally agreed to amend the Maritime Labor Convention to prohibit the sexual violence on vessels. Its failure to do so until now, however, unnecessarily subjected numerous women to abuse. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

Shawn Fain (UAW) is a stain on the labor movement. To join the President's efforts to dismantle the power of labor through division is to support the undoing of the American labor movement and the growth of centralized authority. www.cnbc.com/2025/03/10/t...

It was an honor to be invited by @jessicacweiss.bsky.social to participate in this report on US-China relations. My contribution focuses on US-China labor tensions. After describing them, I propose each government use the International Labor Organization (ILO) to mediate.

These strategic decisions around resistance is also applicable to states (which I'm writing about right now!), let's not give up on them.
