Years ago I pledged to always get a physical copy of whatever @illuminatedcomics.bsky.social did whenever possible.

So again very happy to say that the second issue of The Star Tide Shores finally arrived today. With this amazing standard cover.

I was ready to get hurt again so I decided to try their pickle glazed pickle chicken sandwich….and it was so tart and zesty it was like biting into a huge ball of garlic cloves.

The dill was deadly.
The new Popeyes Pickle Lemonade Slush is one of the most ungodly gross flavors of slushie ever conceived by man.

That said, the first 20% before the after taste kicks in is pretty tight.

Government Cheese was everything i was hoping it would be so far.

Everything is from a memory.

Brooker was clearly a Barney’s Version fan.

I was disappointed there were no Red Mirror episodes this season, but I did love the USS Callister sequel episode. The conceit sorta makes it an honorary Red Mirror episode. And watching Star Trek TOS movies with my brother last month made me appreciate the homages to those specifically this had.

Watching Abre Los Ojos, the original film that Vanilla Sky was a remake of, and I have to say…it really is clear how distinct both movies are despite being “shot for shot”.

One is about moments in life we take for granted. The other is about the life we are told to take as a given.

Think I’ll read the entire Space Odyssey novel series and try to find out why they stopped adapting these after the second.

Holy moley Winston in this version continuously butts heads with his superiors and contradicts them to their faces.

What is going on here?
Decided to watch the 50’s movie adaptation of 1984 tonight and it’s crazy how Winston’s first scene is him glaring angrily at the telescreen.

Like he would’ve been shot on the spot for that in the book.

Princess Mononoke ends with the leads doing the Tron poster pose.

That’s awesome.

It’s kind of amazing that the only ebook editions of the Red Dwarf novels that Amazon has are the Spanish translations.

That might not even be officially licensed.

It’s kinda funny how Millar’s big superhero magnum opus finally finished and no one even notice because after all the time spent on it it just turned out that he had absolutely nothing to say.

Even the Kick-Ass trilogy had more thematic underpinnings.

It’s really mean that people try to act like Ray Nicholson is as talented as his dad in any way.

He’s just like…a regular mid-tier actor.

Send him to the Roger Corman mines to cut his teeth.

You really shouldn’t open your movie with an opening scrawl if it’s going to be 90% cheap cliches.

And if what’s in the scrawl is explained in the next scene after.

Thought this would be a fun Letterboxd list to try and make.

Any suggestions?

They got us working full time in the office lately.

Thankfully I have a little buddy in the side.

Going to watch Letters From Iwo Jima just to feel something

Someone needs to stop the motor of the world.

Rand was wrong about everything her whole life, but she was right about that.

Ngozi Ukazu is posting WIP panels of her Orion OGN.

Looks fantastic. She gets it.

It’s a little sad to see Kiefer Sutherland pop up in a movie and for some reason he’s not playing a weird little freak.

What’s the point then?

Kinda funny if you put The Wiz and Zardoz together you basically get the full title.

Double feature idea?
March 15, 2025 at 8:14 PM
It’s always ridiculous when politicians and pundits who don’t even live in New York describe the city in like Mad Max terms. Like it’s a wasteland.

It’s mostly just boring and dirty.

It’s weird how many detractors of the The Wiz criterion cover art seem to miss that it is clearly evoking sidewalk mural art.
