Years ago I pledged to always get a physical copy of whatever @illuminatedcomics.bsky.social did whenever possible.

So again very happy to say that the second issue of The Star Tide Shores finally arrived today. With this amazing standard cover.

Everything is from a memory.

Brooker was clearly a Barney’s Version fan.

I was disappointed there were no Red Mirror episodes this season, but I did love the USS Callister sequel episode. The conceit sorta makes it an honorary Red Mirror episode. And watching Star Trek TOS movies with my brother last month made me appreciate the homages to those specifically this had.

Watching Abre Los Ojos, the original film that Vanilla Sky was a remake of, and I have to say…it really is clear how distinct both movies are despite being “shot for shot”.

One is about moments in life we take for granted. The other is about the life we are told to take as a given.

What you wouldn’t eat it?

It would be like a nacho hat.

Thought this would be a fun Letterboxd list to try and make.

Any suggestions?

Same I was like “well, let’s just see” and she just had these on her IG story.

Seriously looks like she’s cooking with gas.

Ngozi Ukazu is posting WIP panels of her Orion OGN.

Looks fantastic. She gets it.

It’s weird how many detractors of the The Wiz criterion cover art seem to miss that it is clearly evoking sidewalk mural art.

So I decided to read the original Mickey 7 novel that Mickey 17 is based off of because it’s free with a Kindle digital membership, and it used to have the original cover art but half way through Amazon auto-updated the ebook to have this ugly tie in cover.

Damn shame.

The Lego Ninjago Movie is the best of the big screen Lego movies not the least of which is because of this weird Dianetics reference out of nowhere.

RDC did a Life is Strange play through and it is already firing on all cylinders

Mickey 17 is Bong Joon Ho going “wait, I don’t think English language audience understood Okja enough”

And you know what…it was definitely less messy. A good time. Still a little hamstrung and for some reason has a bit of a Netflix vibe still. Fun bold performances.

Finally got a frame for the El Mariachi poster that came with the Arrow blu ray box set based on Robert Rodriguez sketch art.

The plastic cover was super reflective unfortunately so getting this pic was a huge pain.

Here’s the shirt by the way. With another shirt on top it doesn’t look that bad but let me tell ya by itself the logo is so clearly shrunk down it’s hilarious.

But overall hey if FrightRags ain’t gonna bring it back then what can I do?
