we need a carykh scale of the universe style visualizer for putting together historical timelines... imagining assembling your own little timeline of events and sources local to a specific area and then combining different historians contributions into a big fat fucking map of spacetime
humongous map with an overwhelming array of shapes, nodes and dots of various colors. It is labeled Mesoamerica on the vertical axis, and on the horizontal axis is a timeline, extending in the area of 1200~1300 CE.

I watch as my student writes 0/1 * 1, drawing a strike through the two 1s and "cancelling them out", leaving 0 behind. This is coincidentally the correct answer, but the method used means that the full understanding of how multiplicative cancellation works isn't quite there yet. "wait little buddy, you can't do that, cancelling works a little differently. Let me show you-" "Oh yeah buster? Watch this, we'll see who's right and wrong..." "No, I mean, it's the right answer, it's just solved the wrong way" They submit the answer, and it plays the correct answer jingle. The kid triumphantly boasts "Told you so! If it works, it works!", while I sit there thinking "oh gosh...", wondering how to appropriately move forward from here.
