The 40th Anniversary 4k/Dolby remaster of Purple Rain is outstanding. Sure the plot is thin and often ridiculous, but I can’t help but adore this classic in all of its luscious, sensual splendor. Every moment of exuberant musical performance more than outweighs what’s lacking elsewhere.
