And that's precisely why Jesus had a problem with the rich. Not because there's any theoretical problem with being successful or comfortable per se; but because to get rich generally involves some level of amorality, exploitation, and general shitbaggery.

And, having watched many a TV quiz show, I have a strong suspicion that if you asked someone if Jamaica or Barbados was in the Caribbean, you might not get a Yes 😅)

(Just to be clear, I mean: in school, the slave trade was the background to the US Civil Rights movement; so whilst the Caribbean was mentioned, the emphasis was on the US colonies - so if the question was “where did the slaves go”, Virginia would be ahead of Barbados in people’s thinking.

We had vast slave plantations in Virginia - that’s not the Caribbean! Equally, how good is people’s geography? It’s not impossible for people to just not know which islands are part of the Caribbean!

Yes, I have questions about the survey itself. I totally get that a lot of people might not have done it at school or have forgotten details, but I’d be interested to see how the questions were framed.

The Trump blew Clinton hahahahaha stuff is boring and it's fine and whatever but the raping kids part is the one that demands every single person in those files dies of old age in prison.

I'm totally with you that the Bible itself doesn't explicitly state the earth is 6,000 years old (it doesn't, and it isn't!) but people have been adding up the ages and saying that for a *long* time.

Not entirely true - whilst they did work that out then, they weren't the first to do it. I'm pretty sure Augustine in C4th says 4,500y, and the medieval Christmas carol "Adam lay ybounden" says that Jesus arrived 4,000 years after the Fall, which when you add 2,000y to now brings us to 6k.

On the borderline between medieval and early modern, this reminds me of the "Lutheran Insulter", which was a website which would throw a random insult from one of Luther's works at you...

As I say to everyone who equivocates on church and cathedral entry fees: theology and all that aside, speaking entirely from personal experience, if Durham Cathedral wasn't free to enter, I probably wouldn't be a Christian today.

I disagree, I’m quite partial to a citrus radler and I’ve never had scurvy to date! 😉
