Jacob Needleman has me thinking about the value of not just solving problems but asking big important questions to get to real ideas, because “in front of real ideas, I become still. I am in question…”

It's frustrating when Christians choose to form their identity (or build their platform) based on who they are against. Especially when they do it in the name of "discernment" or "standing up for the truth" or "defending the word of God."

The kid is legal!

Congrats Dylan! You worked very hard to get to this point. Rage-baited and all. You are a great driver! I’m so proud of you.

We fight against dying by being born again and again and again. Every day presents us with a new opportunity to get busy with the activities that bring us life, new life, born-again life. Without a pursuit of being born we will be overcome with the business of dying.

Eugene the Wise on joy. It's not a requirement. It is a consequence. SO GOOD!

(As quoted by Rich Villodas in his new book Waiting For Jesus.)

Jesus is the new and more glorious Temple where divinity and humanity meet, the place where peace is found.

The loss of the value of character, moral integrity, and virtue is at the root of a number of cultural ailments..

I'm advocating for Christians to resume a holy quest for virtue. C.S. Lewis said the same thing 70 years ago and it is MORE true today.

Happy Release Day to Ingrid Faro & Joyce Koo Dalrymple! 🎉

Redeeming Eden invites us to see how women in Scripture advance God’s redemptive story, restoring dignity, courage, & hope. A beautiful, needed book.

Nothing more American than a peaceful protest, exercising one’s right to assembly and free speech.

Nothing more Christian than pledging allegiance to King Jesus and walking with him in faithful obedience.

(I hold these as two distinct but potentially interrelated activities.)

EP knows how to weave words together taking threads of grace & the glory of the ordinary to fashion together something memorable.

Reading words well require not only precision in our understanding of the meaning of individuals words but an awareness of the context in which those words are woven.

“Just as the thought of fire does not warm the body, so faith without love does not actualize the light of spiritual knowledge in the soul.” - Maximus the Confessor

One of the great values of a lectionary reading of Scripture is reading every day from both the Old and New Testaments. This form of Bible reading is beautiful and at times unnerving.

I love the continuity and contrast between the OT and NT.

THE INCARNATION AS THE WARDROBE INTO NARNIA

Most religious systems and self-help gurus will tell you what you need to do in order to reach up and reach out to discover enlightenment, nirvana, self-actualization, transcendance, or a better version of yourself.

Looking forward to teaching in our retreat session this morning on “Exploring the Mystery of the Incarnation.” I’ll be using themes from my new Bible study.

I’ll be working with our retreat theme—In Search of Narnia and talking how Jesus, through his incarnation, is our wardrobe.

Finished second over all in my age division (shout out 👴🏻!) in the 10K as a part of the St. Joseph Marathon.

Thank you to the St. Joseph Sports Commission and all the vendors and volunteers for putting together a great race! Made me feel proud of my community.

Can’t wait to dive into this new book from Louis Markos!

I’m convinced that Aristotelian thought can revitalize the church as she makes disciples of the Jesus way to see, once again, the necessity of character, integrity, and virtue.
