He/him. Rude mechanical. Award losing maker of things. Social impact tech director. Fan of guillotines. Settler Canadian living on the ancestral homelands and traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples (Guelph, ON).
I don’t understand how Flock got through an Authorization To Operate (ATO) process when I couldn’t even get basic modern web technology for civilian facing government marketing/information sites through an ATO.

When I was a kid we would sled off of the roof in winter. We don’t have hills or mountains where I grew up so had to improvise. I have no issue being on the roof myself, but when Actual Professionals are on my roof? Do not like.

The thing about data hungry tech advertising firms is that they’re all run by blithering idiots that don’t know how to do anything with anything so you get the same kinds of mediocre ads that you got 20 years ago.

Was a great conversation to watch. I, for one, am a huge fan of epistolary novels and second person present tense and never grow tired of those styles. 2nd POV really breaks my brain, but like in a good way.

Cozy-ish folk-ish horror? Check. Set in Nova Scotia and full of Maritime tradition? Check. Witches? Check. Or maybe not check, maybe it’s just a metaphor for strong independent women. Witches? Check.

Two thumbs up from this Nova Scotian-stuck-in-Ontario.

I see Matt is continuing to be an ignorant idiot sandwich.

Ugh. I blasted through @premeemohamed.com’s novella “The First Thousand Trees” far too quickly. I couldn’t put it down. And then I ran out of pages. They just stopped coming. If you like human stories told against the backdrop of a post-apoc setting this trilogy of novellas is a must must read.

Qobuz or Tidal pay the most to the artists. I switched to Apple Music during the Joe Rogan uproar. I use a bunch of their services and the bundled Apple One pricing was a big factor.

I have not. I've only read his "Expert System's" novella duology which I really enjoyed. But I always worry about "space opera" series' and having to get stuck in on 15 books. I've never looked at any of his fantasy books though.

Got a book for the ride?

I don’t think I have the language to describe how much I enjoy @sgj.bsky.social ‘s storytelling. Which is the very short, dodgy way of saying “The Buffalo Buffalo Hunter” was top shelf excellent and you should read it.

That’s super cool. These three albums as a collection are so good. Immediately puts my brain on chill mode.

Finished up “Mad Sisters of Esi” last night and I’m not religious, but I think what I felt reading this was a religious experience. Might be my fav for 2025. Grabbed it because cool cover art and because @reactorsff.bsky.social included it in one of their newsletters. Perfect banger.

Death of a Unicorn was so wildly fun. Loved every minute of it.
