This job market is broken. Looking for work is one of the most grueling and demoralizing things a person can go through, and it's unfair that people are just expected to deal with it.

I just don't know what to do, man. Every game writer or localizer gives similar advice: things are bad now, best to look elsewhere. I've been doing that for 7 years and it's gotten me nowhere.

I've been confronting this by just writing on personal projects including a novel and an indie game, but I don't know if these things will really make any employer care about me versus the hundreds of other writing talent candidates that ultimately have accomplished more.
