On the internet, everybody knows I'm a dog!
#NAFO expansion is non-negotiable!
Pronouns: he/him
Location: Langley am Main
Update: Made two test donations to different units. Accidentally left it on USD for one 🤦‍♂️
But the amounts are close to the 10USD/EUR I donated, so Apple/Google seem to be waiving their fees, at least here in the EU.
The app should probably make that clear beforehand.

BlueSky still doesn't play regular GIFs, apparently...

Also referencing this Ethical Journalism guide from... some newspaper... Maybe I overlooked where it said that gifts may of course be accepted if there is no direct action expected in response...

@lazerpig.bsky.social in an effort to notice your barely noticed BlueSky account, I must inform you that on my old phone, the camera cutout in the display makes your banner image look like you are wearing a monocle, or an eyepatch. I just thought this information was important.

Fixed it!

Oh and while I'm ranting, this is a 65€ Bondtech CHT Bimetal Volcano nozzle. The rest of it is still stuck in the heatblock I had to throw away. I accidentally looked up the wrong torque spec and overtightened it. I would pretty much like to not have to worry about this at all, thanks!

No extruder calibration, no input shaper, no pressure advance. Just did the basic steps to get the Doron Velta going for a shakedown test, and verily, it doth benchy! #3dprinting

Added the V0.2 top hat and new panels to my V0.1. The old panels had developed spiderweb cracks and I had planned on replacing them for a while already. Now I just need a way to wire a fourth 24V PWM connection for the side curtain fan to the SKR Mini E3 I have running in there.

Oh, I almost forgot one thing I find weird - the BTT touch screen seems to be a DSI affair - which the CB1 to my knowledge can't handle. Either BTT updated something about this, or this is an error with the initial batch. I'll keep you posted!

The extruder motor, again a NEMA14 pancake from Moons' - which is again, a fine stepper. I even know some people who prefer these over LDO in their extruders.
November 8, 2023 at 8:51 AM
The toolhead is driven by two 55mm NEMA14 Moons' running up to 1.5 amps - these are mighty fine motors! But if you migrate to Boop they might be a bit long and you'll see them touching the frame during initial gantry levelling. Consider getting the 52mm LDO steppers in that case!

The motors: For the Z drives, Formbot included 4 of their own-band/non-brand Oukeda NEMA17s. These should be equivalent to your OMC/Stepperonline motors and those are perfectly fine for z-motion.
November 8, 2023 at 8:47 AM
Layer 4: Frame parts, AB+extruder motors, bearings, a BMG gear set and the hotend. Note that Formbot included aluminium 64T pulleys for the Z-drives which is an upgrade from the default printed ones! There's also some DIN rails which are optional on the 120, but required on the 180 Micron.
November 8, 2023 at 8:45 AM
Hah! I mixed up layers! This was all Layer 3! Because the actual layer 2 of course is the bed! Standard affair, MIC6 bed, 3M Graviflex magnet and a PEI sheet, as well as a 150mm silicone heater. Note that this one already has a thermal fuse wired in which spares me from adding that myself.

These are the polymer spherical bearings which I'm running fine on my other Micron and on my V2.4, as well as the MGN9H X-rail.
November 8, 2023 at 8:40 AM
We also have a PCB Klicky kit from Mellow. It looks like a fine kit, but I plan to build this printer with Boop from the get-go. This might come in useful elsewhere though...

A BTT CB1 goes onto the M8P's CM4 mount as a Raspi replacement - decent enough SBC although AFAIR it can't handle DSI/CSI connectors, so you'll have to rely on HDMI/USB for touchscreens or webcams. They also include the heatsink, which BTT sells separately for some reason.
November 8, 2023 at 8:33 AM
Mainboard - BTT Manta M8p, without it's carton, probably because that one's kinda big. But jumpers and the important rubber ducky are included! I built my first Micron with this board and it is alright for almost all your printing needs.
November 8, 2023 at 8:29 AM
So, we got a lot of BTT parts: A Manta M8P (v1.0 - you really don't need the v2 unless you want to challenge @247printing.bsky.social with this kit), an EBB36 (v1.2, not the printer-burning one), a CB1 and a 3.5" touchscreen. Also a pre-made wire harness which to me makes up 50% of a good kit.
November 8, 2023 at 8:23 AM
Layer 2: Electronics, rails, motion, fasteners, Z-motors. Most of the printer's insides really. You see there's quite a lot happening here so let's pull out the most important/interesting parts!
