This is exactly the opposite of true. Former U.S. presidents are referred to as "Mister [LastName]" or "Former President [LastName]". There is only one president at a time. Writing an email to my Senator, and I intended to keep it pretty calm and factual and leave some headroom for emotion and rhetoric tomorrow and next week and beyond. I got a little worked up while laying out recent events, and closed a little more forcefully than I had planned.
