In view of recent layoffs at the National Park Service and threats to sell off public lands, it may be time to dust off my 1982 article "In Defense of Federal Parks Near Urban Areas" about efforts early in the Reagan Administration to divest federal parks back to the states.

It's usually illegal to put electronic goods in the trash or regular recycling. A great option in Denver is Blue Star Recyclers. Today I brought them a slide projector, a digital scale, accoustic headphones (all broken) and some old VHS tapes. They were able to take all of them. Disposal w/o guilt!

I follow a few webcams around the world. This shot was taken at mid-day on Tuesday, Jan. 21 along Bourbon Street in New Orleans. It doesn't look like this often.

Our internet provider now offers fiber-based service. We switched over on Jan. 8. The change in speed is dramatic, especially the upload speed. Our rate stays the same and is locked in. Installation was quick and free. (You may have to select the photo to see all of the data.)
