4) some agreed and found my arguments interesting, but largely my argument was dismissed because “how could we learn anything from a movement that we are ahead of”, more recently it’s apparent that we could learn a lot!! Japan and US both can do better for their queer people, we can help each other!

3)when I gave my presentation, I noted that in coming back to America I felt that LGBT was insufficient for our own movement, and if not sexual minority (I understand the historical negatives) we needed something to foster a stronger communal relationship.

2) I noticed that many organizations and people were using ‘sekumai’ instead of LGBT, I found differences in services provided, community building practices, and advocacy which is felt demonstrated that sekumai was a term which preferences collective betterment and inclusion, and centered community
