Multi-Lustre Dodo Tile by William De Morgan (1898)
The dodo is an extinct flightless bird from Mauritius and was popularised by Lewis Carol who featured it in 'Alice in Wonderland'.

🐰 Hopping into Easter with William De Morgan’s energetic rabbit/hare designs. 🐇

In these examples, mostly from our collection, they are springing away from a curious blue bear, eye to eye with a Sphinx, being pounced upon by an eagle and leading a three rabbit race.

Happy Birthday to polymath, May Morris, designer of wallpaper, jewellery, textiles, stained glass and other arts and crafts. She was also an embroiderer, author, editor, lecturer, artist, feminist and socialist and a close friend of Evelyn and William.
