I have only one small critique, which is that I always have sympathetic shoulder pain from watching him stand like this for two hours

It's not this one, although clearly this "first deluxe edition" is what the art was commissioned for. I wouldn't mind a flick through this one. But no, this was a single-volume hardback, and quite small! The cover was green under the dust jacket.

The hardback version of this edition of Lord of the Rings was always around in our house when I was growing up, but when I took it to uni with me to read, most of the pages fell out instead.
Online I can only find evidence of a paperback version, pictured here. If you find the hardback let me know.

I'm all for shouting at the papers, but one thing I wish more people knew is that what we call "scare quotes" are just a part of the proper grammar of journalism and not necessarily an attack.
Sometimes it's worth being cross but we do get ourselves in a lather quite often.

It's almost your time, houses that never took their Christmas decorations down and you wonder if it's because they died and nobody's found them yet

Needless to say, if they were still doing Planet that's what I'd be on about now. That was the king of them all. Sadly a producer died, or it'd be touring again now

Fun way to find out it's only spelled "snatchas" on the ZX Spectrum game that isn't even related to the films

yes patreon, I used to do that every time, but then you removed the feature about eight years ago. I'm glad it's back but there's no need to be all smug about it

Here's something that's been winding me up about BBC news links recently. There's teaser text for the article that trails off when it runs out of space, and if you want to know what the end of the sentence was, you can't, because it isn't in the article.
