We are a country in distress living under Trump's lawless autocracy.
Not a single person who serves Trump should be at all surprised that he will turn on them and/or throw them under the bus in a heartbeat if it helps him.

I appreciate the information. So, his full-time position was replaced by a nominee when he became a senior, semi-retired judge, right?

Unless they were too old to do their jobs, resigning under Trump only allows him to replace them with one of his young loyalists. Hell, they don't even need to have law degrees anymore!

Trump absolutely controls the GOP. The vote will fail because Trump wants it to fail. Over 78% of Americans want those subsidies with midterms coming. Flip Congress, and Trump's control over the GOP ends. That's the narrative set up by the Dems in the Senate using leverage we gave them on Tuesday.

What Dems did was use the leverage voters gave them Tuesday to reshape the shutdown narrative: Trump absolutely controls the GOP, people of all political persuasions want those ACA subsidies, and the midterms are coming.

You're right. Guess what? Republicans under Trump's control are absolutely fine with that. What is not OK is our government being shut down. That is a very bad thing for everyone.

The one thing that will break Trump's control over the GOP is to flip Congress. That has always been the answer.

Democrats didn’t cave or call for kumbaya, despite what Shaheen implied. They used the leverage voters gave them Tuesday to reshape the shutdown narrative: Trump controls the GOP, people want their subsidies, and the midterms are near.

Name one person in existence who could exert that kind of control over Independents and moderate Democrats, and I'll agree with you.
November 10, 2025 at 1:27 AM
Republicans aren't winning. They were never going to break. They would have allowed every poor person in this country to starve or freeze to death. They would bring air traffic to a complete halt, causing our entire economy to collapse. This was always going to happen. Be angry at Republicans.
November 10, 2025 at 1:24 AM
Be angry at those who deserve it. In this case, moderates are ready to back a temporary deal to end the shutdown. I don’t love it, but real people are hurting, and Republicans are fine with that. They’re cruel. They're monsters. Anyone who thought this could drag on forever was kidding themselves.
November 10, 2025 at 1:21 AM
Exactly! Moderate Dems have always been a problem.
November 10, 2025 at 1:14 AM
How do you know he didn't tell them that there would be consequences? These moderate Dems have always been a weak link.
November 10, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Schumer isn't voting for it, so why are you willing to primary him? Senators Angus King, Jeanne Shaheen, and Maggie Hassan are the ones negotiating with Republicans for this new deal.
November 10, 2025 at 1:10 AM
Democratic leadership isn't voting for this thing. It's moderate Dems, like Senators Angus King, Jeanne Shaheen, and Maggie Hassan. They're the ones who have been negotiating with Republicans. So, target those who are too weak to stand strong.
