Americans for Fair GOP Primaries
@demconservative.bsky.social
This account is a grassroots movement dedicated to motivating independents, dems, and moderate GOP voters to vote in GOP primaries causing an increase in turnout with the goal of giving anti-MAGA candidates a chance.
The data substantiates this point. On average less than 25%, and in multiple cases in the southern states less than 10%, of the total number of voters in the general election vote in the GOP primary.

Meaning, there is a large number of active voters who could be motivated to vote in the primary.

The GOP is set to win at SCOTUS to gut VRA and eliminate limits on corporate contributions. A grassroots solution to this is to overwhelm MAGA in GOP primaries.

19 states allow open primaries including numerous southern states where gutting of VRA will be impactful. See my profile for more info.

Why does this matter? Most MAGA candidates are elected by small majorities of voters. In many cases, turnout in these elections is low and less than 10% of registered voters.

If moderate Dems and Independents voted in primaries like they do in the general, MAGA could easily be defeated.

The solution, which requires no legislative change, is to drastically increase participation in the GOP primaries to elect non-MAGA GOP members.

Turn the competitive election from the general to the primary. This can be done with just Dems and independents voting in GOP primaries.

Most GOP primaries are relatively low turnout. On average, less than 20% of registered voters participate in GOP primaries.

That means 80% of voters do not cast a vote in GOP primaries. MAGA has a much easier path to dominating a small pool of predictable voters.
