Mitty, and his sister Squeak, who followed him over the bridge soon after her brother. After we lost Mitty we immediately took his sister to the vet and got a similar prognosis, but were able to give her subcutaneous fluids for a month more until she passed quietly on our bed.
The world has lost one of the great ones. Walter "Mittens" Mitty was an exemplary and special cat of the highest order of felines of familiarity. I had to let our friend Mitty go at 7:36 AM EDT on Friday, March 22, 2013 He went peacefully and without pain. When admitted to Angell Animal Hospital's CCU, his temperature had fallen to 84° and while the Vets got his temperature back up close to normal, the poor guy's electrolytes were off and he suffered a seizure and became even less aware of his surroundings. Most telling was, even after a good bit of fluid had been administered, none made it to his bladder, so his kidneys were nonfunctional and any further measures would only keep his body working until toxins would continue to build up painfully, then fatally from lack of renal cleansing. Up until then, he was not in any real pain, so I let him go while he was still our cat. I miss him greatly already. We became very close friends quite soon after we met. I don't think he was done being a cat yet, he hung on without complaining and he stayed on the bed with us until it became obvious he wasn't drinking, or eating. As I used a syringe to squirt water in his mouth and I held him, I felt as close to him as we had ever been and before we went to the emergency room. I could see what could best be described as uncertainty in his eyes. The uncertainty I saw was the same as when he would get lost, but here unaccompanied with crying out as he did when he lost sight of familiar ground I salute Mitty for his friendship, for his acceptance of me into his family and accepting my new family into his, for him making it feel like we've all always been together and for his being a most sapiens of felis. Your memory is added to the list of the great ones that we, the living, carry with us and share with those who follow after us to ensure our immortality amongst the living. The catnip awaits.

A Country Club of Corruption? The images of the ballroom show a room that is only ~20,000 ft². The addition is to be 90,000 ft². What’s the other 65,000 ft² to be?
Mar A Lago comes in at 62,500 ft². the Republicans' plan turns the White House into a playland of privilege to reward the billionaires?
And Not a Ballroom. A Country Club of Coruption? Seems no one's done the math yet, but the images of the ballroom released this week show a room that is only 20,000 square feet, 25,000 at best. But the addition is said to be 90,000 square feet. What's the other 65,000 square feet to be? Odd coincidence, but the president's Florida Country Club, with all its guest rooms and other facilities, comes in at 62,500 square feet. Weird, no? What are the odds that the Republicans' plan doesn't stop at just a ballroom and instead turns the White House into a play land of privilege to reward the billionaires who've been lining Republicans' pockets? I'm guessing those odds are less than zero. The White House was built as the People's House of a nation of the people, by the people, for the people. Are we really going to lose all that to the greed and corruption that's taken hold of the Republican party? I'm thinking, NO, let's not do that. Saving America starts with you. Let those around you know that you think what they are doing to the White House is not just wrong, but indecent. You are a cook. People know you care. Your voice impacts those around you.
