Ex-broadcaster and data-wrangler … copyright, infrared and Elektra Records fan … archiving my past … music collection not as big as it was … the odd photo … and with a disobedient memory.
The OU Production Centre also played a pivotal technical role in the BBC Domesday Project, which was published 40 years ago this year. Alan Cathie and the team were indispensable … the photographers (led by David Amy) shot my ‘surrogate walks’.

I love this album. The opening grabs you warmly by the throat and doesn’t let up for several minutes … weird time signature included! 🎶

There’s an old Phil Harris song called ‘The Thing’ where the singer finds something (only denoted by three drum beats) and, without explanation, is subsequently ostracised. For some reason your ‘thing’ triggered that memory. Life is full of ‘things’ these days.

Reliably rude waiters but great cheap food. I saw a table reeling of an ever-increasing order until the waiter just said “That’s enough!” and walked off.

Didn’t they have an old-fashioned hearse (like the Munsters) that hung around Sunset Strip in the 70s?

A friend of mine got asked by some people if any good bands were playing at the weekend, she said "Well the New York Dolls are playing here tonight but I wouldn't bother, they're shite". They replied that they were the New York Dolls

Getting lost in the Grovel was a rite of passage. I never did find the canteen.

Levels of courage and compassion that I fear I may not have ☹️.

I think ‘Reach for the Sky’, biographical book and film about amputee WW2 pilot Douglas Bader, had the same problem.
