There was a glitch & I had to post w/out alt text:
A woman in an ornate red & gold dress stands on a balcony with an empty expression. She is surrounded by trees. The red dress is the only thing in color.

The red & gold Quinceñera dress that inspired the art.

RIP my overuse of the word enjoy lol but it was apt. I liked the books! But didn't like them at any level beyond "enjoyment" XD be it love, adore, savor or revel in.

The Spellshop - cozy fantasy has a stakes/tension problem for me, apparently. I don't need universal stakes or anything but holy hell. My right eye for some tension and conflict that isn't solved in a chapter. Please. I'm so serious. Cozy Fantasy can learn from Cozy Mysteries in that regard imo.

Book Lovers - reread for me, and I actually rated it 5* when I first read it, so there it will stay though it's probably more 4* for me now. The aspect I really love about it is that it's an all encompassing slice of life romance. The aspects characters lives entwined w/ the romance really well imo

I enjoyed Misery Hates Company! I wouldn't say it was anything super special, but I really enjoyed the mystery and thought the setting was illustrated so well! I also enjoyed the characters. I just liked reading it and had fun.

The writing in The Eyes are the Best part is very evocative. The tension was really good! But overall I think that the plot was lacking. It was a little too contrived and convenient for me.

Sometimes the Sudan and Arabian Golden Sparrow are considered the same species, or different. Least Concern! On the endangered scale which is always lovely to see tbh. A relief.
