The Mitchell’s also got the distinction of being used by basically all of the major Allied Powers, lend lease meant those things got around

To be fair to Taylor Lorenz I would assume “thermostat at 90 all day every day” probably has SOME sort of deleterious mental consequences

the images of the USS New Jersey in dry dock for repairs last year are still kind of surreal tbh

i love that helldivers has a gun that's just one of these crossed with a nock gun

I can only imagine someone was told "director patel wants us to write anti-ICE stuff on the bullets, propaganda reasons, you got that right" and took it ENTIRELY too literally

same energy as the FSB agent who was OBVIOUSLY told to get three SIMs for a fake bust but instead purchased the Sims 3

Hey, be careful who you call ugly in the tech demonstrator stage

i like using google maps to look at random uninhabited islands in the pacific and i feel the gold medal of that is finding a set of rocks so obviously unimportant that there is neither highish-resolution imagery NOR a name on them

So today I learned that the Airtruk of Mad Max fame is just the fucked up culmination of a lineage of messed up looking crop dusters

I have removed brezhnev’s eyebrows. I will not put them back unless one million dollars is wired to my account

my possibly controversional iconographic opinion is that the coats of arms of current/former british coloniess kind of cook hard. something about the classic "shield held by animals" except it's stuff you wouldn't see on european CoAs. they're too addicted to using lions

*space marine voice* Thunderhawk tuah

Honestly I’m just a sucker for all the really interesting canned space shuttle design proposals from the late 60s/early 70s and the Grumman lifting bodies might be my favorite out of the bunch
December 6, 2024 at 3:49 PM
There was also the Grumman 532 as a kerolox fallback to the technologically riskier hydrolox 518; not as comical proportionswise but the first stage DOES have the quirk of looking suspiciously like a S-IC disguised itself as a spaceplane to sneak into the STS program
December 6, 2024 at 3:47 PM
Personally partial to the Grumman 518 shuttle proposal and its first stage booster

fat fuck with planeyboys proportions

Struck by the burning question yesterday while at work of "what would the F-15 look like if it was designed in the 1950s" and so i present to you. 1961's hottest new penetration fighter: the F-115 Eagle

Every time you think you’ve reached the bottom of the rabbithole that is obscure Cold War missile tech you find something new, like UpSTAGE, McDonnell Douglas’ externally-combusting maneuverable anti-ballistic missile
