My kids, currently 20 and 24, are sort of baffled anyone ever believed in American exceptionalism (despite growing up in Texas, with its skewed curriculum). Older kiddo has been talking about the superiority of Finnish schools, in particular, since about age 16. Optimistic the idea is dying out.

Arguably the worst Mitford because at least Diana wasn’t trying to bang actual Hitler. But I suppose when the bar is that low, it really doesn’t matter anymore.

I would say “make it make sense,” but it’s just been so long since it made sense, I’m not sure I would recognize sense if I saw it anymore.
