San Francisco used to have a lot more large apartment complexes than cities like Seattle/Austin/Denver. Now the city is well behind Seattle and Austin/Denver have basically entirely caught up.

And rents are going up and folks are finding it hard to find an apartment they can afford. At the same time rents in Minneapolis are stable and rents in Austin are down 22%. Why? Because of a huge increase in housing production mostly multi-family housing.
