I've been to the 2000 AD Talent Search twice now, I haven't got through the lottery to pitch yet, but I've learned a lot from the feedback.
Make sure it actually fits into four 6 panel pages (do a layout) and most importantly, read Future Shocks! A surprising amount of pitches don't have a twist

If I hear an episode of History of Rock Music in 500 Songs about any band I usually get a new appreciation of them. I've always hated the sound of Led Zeppelin and now I hate them all as people too!

My version of this is pretty much any actor ever. Olivia Colman is Sophie from Peep Show to me, I've literally never seen anything else with her in, although I'm very aware she's a proper and famous actor
I think everybody has a “Wallace Shawn from Young Sheldon” — my first one would probably be “Vincent Price, the guy who did the voice of Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective”
