We have friends in the USFS and National Park Service who lost their jobs last week. I am worried about fire season, as support staff are essential—the people making these decisions have no understanding of the work.
“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

Sergeant Gonell @sergeantaqgo.bsky.social sent me this picture. This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying "The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections."
Each defendant assaulted him.

Watched The Third Man last night with my oldest, Aidan. Ages ago, it was recommended to me but I misremembered the title and paid to watch The Thin Man, which might be a perfect good old movie unless you were expecting film noir. We recognized so many shots imitated in other films. Brilliant.

one of the reasons bluesky works differently is because early users waged a successful fight to get the devs to prioritize safety features to protect communities at risk

as a result bluesky now has a suite of controls that i think are unmatched on social media

here’s the list, lmk what i’ve missed
