Monstrous Regiment by T Pratchett. There are some things I didn't like about this book, but it was easy to read, interesting about gender & had both canon & shippy femslash!
Also, it's funny how TP chose the one colour that's used as slang for gay men in rus for the oppressive dead God to outlaw
