The baby magpie can hop and that’s it, but it is trapped by the fence. I decided to place a ladder (first I tried a big branch propped against the fence). To my surprise later in the day I saw an adult magpie on the top of the ladder urging the baby magpie up and out. Happy days!

Happy Solstice! Here’s my baby magpie story that I’ve been meaning to share for months: it’s July 4 and it is occurring to me based on the clamor that we have baby magpie’s in the hood. I see several on my fence. Then one of them who can hop but not fly gets stuck in my yard …
