PREVIEW: WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS HEPTATHLON

September 19, 2025 at 6:20 AM
So overall that leaves Vanninen with a very comfortable lead, >150 points (some 10 seconds) going into the 800m

She can’t jog round, but her new 800m speed (a tactical trade off with shot, where she already has plenty advantage) means she shouldn’t need to push her PB of 2:11 to win comfortably
July 20, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Serina Riedel was 288 points behind Pawlett at the end of Day 1.

She’s hacked that down to 189 points after that superb LJ, and potentially has another 100 pointsto take off that with her javelin.

Standings after 5 events
July 20, 2025 at 9:22 AM
So, after four events, there are only three points between Saga Vanninen and Abi Pawlett, 3870 to 3867.

Vanninen is comfortable, not yet dominant - that will likely come in events six and seven.
July 19, 2025 at 7:27 PM
After three events, Vanninen led from Pawlett and Ntragkomirova, while Serina Riedel climbed from ninth, to eighth, to sixth.
July 19, 2025 at 7:25 PM
After two events, Vanninen moved into the lead, with Bastien in second ahead of Pawlett.
July 19, 2025 at 7:17 PM
The first two heats of the hurdles had Bergen headwinds, but fortune turned for the 3rd heat, bringing a tailwind.

Pawlett ran a strong 13.06s, while Vanninen improved her PB by a tenth to 13.25s.

Switzerland’s Melissa Wullschleger 🇨🇭 was one hundredth outside her best with 13.50s.

Day 1 of the heptathlon ends with an outstanding run from Abi Pawlett, yet another PB, this time 23.06

Anna Hall leads overnight ahead of Sofie Dokter, Annik Kalin and Pawlett

Meanwhile in the decathlon HJ, it’s everything we could have asked for: Kyle Garland, Sander Skotheim and Heath Baldwin slugging it out at 2.15m. Kyle and Sander both clear, and that moves Garland into the lead after four events.

But AOD is No.2 all time in the 400m…
May 31, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Anna Hall’s return continues brilliantly, with a big big throw in the shot - a PB of 14.86
May 31, 2025 at 3:26 PM
The longest shot of the day came from Ayden Owens-Delerme with 16.19m, just a few centimetres beyond Kyle Garland with 16.14. No giant puts from Neugebauer today with “just” 15.93m

After 2 events, AOD and Neugebauer are out in front, but Garland and Skotheim are in 4th and 5th with huge HJs to come
May 31, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Onto the long jump and Leo Neugebauer got the long jumps started with 7.91. Birthday boy Sander Skotheim landed an 8m jump with 8.06m, and Simon Ehammer took it out to 8.34m.

That put Ehammer into the lead, but this is a field loaded with 8700+ athletes.
May 31, 2025 at 2:18 PM
Further down the field Sammy Ball posted a PB of 10.55 and Lewis Church kicked the whole thing off with a lifetime best of 11.00 in the first heat
May 31, 2025 at 2:13 PM
In the decathlon the usual early leaders Damian Warner and Simon Ehammer are buried in the new suite of big scoring participants. Ayden Owens- Delerme won the battle of the fast men with 10.33, with Warner in 10.39. Kyle Garland posted a PB of 10.50.
May 31, 2025 at 2:11 PM
After two events Hall is leading by 150 points from Sofie Dokter, with Kalin in fourth some 50 points behind
May 31, 2025 at 2:07 PM
Onto the HJ and Timara Chapman 🇺🇸 Sofie Dokter 🇳🇱 Maddie Wilson 🇳🇿 take us beyond 1.80m with 1.86, 1.86, and 1.83 respectively.

But Anna Hall shows she is returning to her pre-surgery best. Her hurdles might have been down on her best but nothing wrong with that HJ - 1.92m and then a new PB of 1.95
May 31, 2025 at 2:05 PM
The heptathlon is the first of the two events to kick off, and US duo of Michelle Athlerley and Erin Marsh post the equal fastest time of 12.93, a PB for Marsh.

Abi Pawlett improves her new PB further to 12.94, and Anna Hall opens with 13.26 (shown below)
