With the president bragging about gerrymandering, I just hope that they collectively realize they need to put the pin back in that grenade to protect the democracy.

Once courts decide that they will not protect democracy from gerrymandering only the second amendment is left

There is always trouble with communication here. Opposition members always leave any private briefing "distressed" and "shaking", so it's hard to distinguish signal from noise.

Hmmmn, it's more that we usually just give different rights to governments than citizens. Sometimes more. Sometimes less.

Oh, having a fair use exemption probably makes way more sense overall. And we'll agree on decency!

It's just 'interesting' that the White House has the same permissions as Weird Al, Free Speech-wise
December 4, 2025 at 10:28 PM
It's interesting that we presume that the government has similar fair use permissions towards 'fair use' that private citizenry does. No wonder Trump steals and abuses so much art for his purposes.

I think a distinguishing case could be made, that the White House has fewer right than the Candidate.

But I also just don't see many solutions. Alberta insists that the short-term benefit of being oil-reliant is worth and resents anyone standing in their way. Anything that gets us selling/working a direction other than Southwards is beneficial.
December 4, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Naw, Smith's smart AF. I keep saying people don't realize how much she's trying to split the baby. The separatists here are *nuts* and politically powerful and so many Albertans just wanna sell more oil

Getting democratically elected here in this province and playing nice with the feds is HARD
December 4, 2025 at 2:04 AM
I'm hoping that it's the start of a series of bribes, so he has to sweet talk those further west next. TBH, I'm pretty pleased about the much higher carbon tax, and Smith is taking a lot of heat for it

Elizabeth May getting in some good soundbytes for why the tanker ban has to stay is useful too!

You're not wrong that they're lying about not needing Canada. But they know they're lying. The goal is to steal Canadian resources and then get mad when we don't thank them for it.

Does the White House have a First Amendment right to abuse other people's copyright?
December 4, 2025 at 1:06 AM
Every right-thinking person should go to the police station and 'turn themselves in' and get the cops there to explain to them that Trump's tweets aren't anywhere close to legal.

Gum up the works. Get beat cops to shake the trees of their superiors.

Him going all side-quest by blaming Canada and Venezuela for fentanyl is even a bigger issue, because it shows he's *diluting focus from fentanyl* too.

A lot depends upon the timing of the firing of the second missile, and the state of the boat before it was fired

War crimes won't erode his support with the base, however. Only sticker shock in their districts will
December 2, 2025 at 6:21 PM
This is super distressing. With a president that is bragging about gerrymandering, it is literally ticking down the clock on American democracy

That is super bad, and I think the mainstream conversation needs to be that the pin needs to be put back in the grenade
December 2, 2025 at 2:46 PM
No need to give details, just make sure to check
December 1, 2025 at 11:07 PM
The Supreme Court legalizing criminal behavior by the President leads to what you describe, yes.
December 1, 2025 at 10:41 PM
As far as I know, it is just International Men's Day. So don't let them rebrand it to "rights day"!

That looks like a little bit of a bait and switch
