A few weeks ago, I dove into the rabbit hole of "Sunday Morning Coming Down" in search of covers by women, and I learned Ray Stevens, in 1969, predated the Kristofferson version by a year or so. He's more than "Guitarzan." Give it up for Ray!

It's easy to overlook, but Ray Stevens ("Guitarzan" guy) had the first recorded version of "Sunday Morning Coming Down," in 1969. Kristofferson was late to the game. Probably my only quibble with the countdown.

From my fingertips to John Batiste's scroll ... I can surely imagine him covering this song.
Let's put it out in the universe.

Oh, no, I'm not saying stop. I LOVE Brigitte Calls Me Baby, boygenius and others, but if they played them a bit less, they could fit in "classics." I love new stuff. By example, Mary Chapin Carpenter used to be a staple, yet Sleepy Hollow is the only place I've heard her new record. Pic=my fridge.

In honor of #TBTXPN and the classics on @wxpnfm.bsky.social, here's today's wardrobe. #GreyEyeGlances. More, please.

OMG! This is such an underrated album! Thanks for playing something from it. Don't like Travis Tritt's politics, but he's phenomenal with Patti Labelle.

Huh, @jmcgnn.bsky.social says this might be the quintessential song of the Seventies

With all due props to @brandicarlile.bsky.social, the Steve & Edie version is far superior!

Above is a Chinese watercolor painting I did long ago and just found. Below is from the book I studied at the time.

It's not too early to put in my pitch for Friday morning or the lunchtime hour for next year... National Crying Day is June 24.
I think we can fill an hour.
