A few weeks ago, I dove into the rabbit hole of "Sunday Morning Coming Down" in search of covers by women, and I learned Ray Stevens, in 1969, predated the Kristofferson version by a year or so. He's more than "Guitarzan." Give it up for Ray!

It's easy to overlook, but Ray Stevens ("Guitarzan" guy) had the first recorded version of "Sunday Morning Coming Down," in 1969. Kristofferson was late to the game. Probably my only quibble with the countdown.

For someone whose age begins with a 7, I find it a great brain game to figure out the song before I learn it via the playlist or the radio host: "I *know* that song!"

From my fingertips to John Batiste's scroll ... I can surely imagine him covering this song.
Let's put it out in the universe.

"And when he died, all he left us was alone." OMG. Probably in my top 20 lines ever.

Faces. Modern English. You could do a whole #FridayMorningMixtape of songs used in commercials. I think Jardiance might be the only original song in ads anymore, haha!

Every time I hear Portishead, I think of the TV show "La Femme Nikita," yet, interestingly, their music was never played on that show.

If there's one song that I'm surprised that @wxpnfm.bsky.social has never played, it's probably "Diamonds" by @johnnyswim.bsky.social. They have a few plays in the teens, but this song is special!

Six degrees of @wxpnfm.bsky.social and @worldcafe.bsky.social ... If only Dan could talk with his friend Connor, who could talk to his pal Jason, who could talk to his bro Travis, who could talk to his sweetie Taylor, who could talk to @rahrahraina.bsky.social or @kallao.bsky.social ...

OMG! This is such an underrated album! Thanks for playing something from it. Don't like Travis Tritt's politics, but he's phenomenal with Patti Labelle.

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

Don't fear the long song, lol! Remember when "Purple Rain" came to your rescue when the computers went down?

Maybe it's my poison ivy-fueled haze, but how about a mixtape on infidelity? A friend jokes he should have guessed his marriage might not last when the last song at the reception was "Me and Mrs. Jones."
"One Way Out." "It's My Party." "If Loving You Is Wrong..."

Huh, @jmcgnn.bsky.social says this might be the quintessential song of the Seventies

This Ludovico Einaudi interview was so good! For what it's worth, guitarist Jason Vieaux is with Curtis and presumably in Philly. He'd be interesting, too, I think. And he does a pretty cool Tears for Fears.
