We could write a list all day long - it's so easy to forget what a treasure the BBC has been. I've been really disillusioned with its news and current affairs for a while now, but that's been part of the plan - divide and conquer.

It's Robbie Gibb who needs to go.

We'll have to try that next time.

Ah we missed trick there! We'll try the fish and chips next time. Hope you're well Suzy x

They don’t need them. They just drag you into their gingerbread houses and gobble you up.

Germany’s full of surprises.

Thanks Helen - this is a great thread.

No, of course, but it was given as the reason for first making diesel cheaper than petrol and then later when they realised how polluting it was, more expensive.

I guess it comes down to reasons. If fuel duty is meant as a deterrent to using fossil fuels (as presented in the past), then the discrepancy is an incentive. If it’s a stealth tax because governments don’t want the political fallout of raising income tax, it’s another thing altogether.

I will do - thank you x

Don't drivers of electric cars already pay VAT on the power they use to charge them?

Great - thanks so much Helen - I'll share these with our teachers. We're in the middle of grappling with how we get our children to really be reasoning and talking through their understanding - these look like they'd really support that.

Signs in Beijing. I wonder if she'd be complaining about this.

This is what Zack Polanski and the Greens need to do now. We won't get it from Labour.
November 5, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Well not totally - they're encouraging people to do KS1 SATs 🙄 At least I guess they've gunned the SPAG test but it's a really unambitious review. Someone said it was 'evolution not revolution'. We'll be an extinct species before the curriculum evolves into anything like what children actually need.
