Unfortunately, this is a common experience for many young folks pursuing for a career into the sector, and possibly for most aspiring young professionals in all fields in the current world (2/ )

Fortunately, I don’t see this odd gatekeeping attitude anymore when I talk with scholars and cultural heritage professionals, ‘cause we all know that our skills are transferable and multidimensional 😊

But this really stuck with me, and the attitude is kind of noticeable among my History colleagues in my undergrad programme.

Eventually more of my classmates went and did History and related subjects, including another one (also named Deborah) who went on and do Art History at St Andrew’s.

I agree Peter. It’s very meditating when cutting glass as I needed to concentrate whilst enjoying the sounds of glass cutting. It’s a delightful experience!
