Nothing would get paid. We would default on our debt. The global economy would collapse, and the midterms would be the least of our worries.

More or less, but the plan was always to break as much as possible before the midterms. They understood coming into this that they were likely to lose the midterms (though, now they’re convinced they’re going to get completely blown out).

He’s definitely talking about the insurrection act - that was always the plan if SCOTUS didn’t let him use the Guard as his personal military force. He’s going to look for a reason to invoke the Insurrection Act and bypass their ruling.

I think that’s very likely. Too many people have seen what’s really in those files to keep this contained forever. I suspect they wanted to see how DOJ responded prior to leaking them.

Have you seen the story from Spencer Ackerman on the torture tactics at Alligator Alcatraz putting people in small boxes? It’s horrific. Amnesty International is aware and has been taking statements. I couldn’t finish the article. It made me cry.
