I DO love being 85... for it's not that, that identifies me... it's the mountains of knowledge gained; the deserts of mistakes and lessons learned; the trees whose leaves unfurl to me the truth; and the oceans of love received. How can I ever repay Mother Nature! 💜

Listening to some music this morning and it occurred to me that, in an era of short attention spans, it was actually attending orchestral concerts where I learnt to appreciate the beauty of extended concentration and the joy of solitude.

So pleased I chanced upon the opportunity so many years ago.

But then, so did I. 🤭 However, I think once the contents opened up the space to talk more broadly, students understood the ‘philosophical’ approach and enjoyed the discussion. Some students pursued some of the ideas in graduate dissertations.

I liked these classes, reading one book in a term. 3/3

This text introduced a range of authors across disciplines including Arendt, Rawls, Matsushita, among others. It asked tough questions about ‘place’ and ‘home (furusato)’, and history of community which resulted in some interesting discussions in class.

Students found it difficult at first. 2/3

Whatever the day has in store for you [37º for me, Yikes!] let's greet it with a smile that does so many things for its owner; it's a boomerang, an uplifter of others, a cleaner of one's teeth, and what's more it tells the day exactly what you expect of it! Bliss! What's not to love? 🤣💜

Weather: 'Horrendous' Sunday ahead, but hope is in sight
It is by no means a "bummer summer" despite the cool temperatures and wet weather seen by much of the country since Christmas, a forecaster says.
