Bottom line: The Oregon Legislature has historically underfunded the child care systems, leading to unaffordable care for families and a lack of support for providers facing industry-wide low wages. Proposed agency budget cuts to the Department of Early Learning and Care ERDC program would be detrimental to Oregon families who rely on these critical services. We don’t have to accept this! Lawmakers can choose to stop the bleeding and disconnect from federal tax codes that provide loopholes to corporations and the rich. Additionally lawmakers can allocate 5% of the rainy day fund to DELCInvest in child care. Invest in our economy. Invest in Oregon’s future.
