Viktor opens the door with an amused smile. “You forgot the umbrella, too, hm?” Jayce beams back, eyes glinting under the soaked hood of his jacket. “Pizza delivery through storm and rain, just for you.” He holds the damp pizza carton up with pride. Inspiration strikes Viktor with a fun little idea. Instead of stepping to the side and letting Jayce into the safe and dry warmth of their room, Viktor leans against the door frame with what he hopes comes across as at least an attempt at seductiveness. “Oh, but I don’t even have any money to pay you.” A classic. Vintage, even, when it comes to effortless bedroom tropes. Unfortunately oblivious to a great setup, Jayce snorts in response. “Dude, what? I clearly already paid. Like Gia would ever let us run up a tab or something, we’d bankrupt the whole—oh.” He stops, adorably catching up with a delay. “Oh, wait, you were—like doing a thing, right?” There we go. Viktor nods slowly and wordlessly, biting down a smile. Jayce straightens up like his sudden new role needs psyching up. The soft weather-related flush on his cheeks intensifies. “Okay, so—I’m, what… a pervy pizza delivery guy?” “If you want to be.” “... How pervy?” Jayce asks, very serious, clutching the pizza box tight. He’d surely be the kind of porn star that asks for his character’s internal motivations before putting his dick into a proffered hole (or offering his own orifices for usage). Viktor chuckles. “As pervy as you like.” “Oh damn, okay.” Like Jayce’s most pervy fantasy so far hasn’t been missionary with desperately whispered love confessions.

Viktor blinks. And before he can question the instinct, he reaches the butt of his cane over and scoops the shirt up. It’s the nice thing to do. Cleaning up a little mess. Picking the shirt up and putting it back into the hamper. Back. Into the hamper. On a questionable autopilot, Viktor pulls the cane end towards himself and takes the shirt into his hand. It’s wet, obviously. Sweat drenched and crumpled in Viktor’s grasp. Viktor looks over to the bathroom door. The stream of water is a soft background noise to Viktor’s strangely loud breath. Viktor knows what Jayce smells like. Their friendship is a highly physical affair. They’re close. Viktor catalogues, cherishes and obsesses over every touch they share. But there are lines. Some so basic, rooted in human decency and common sense, that they don’t need to be verbalized. Viktor is about to cross a good dozen of those.

And I will be your husband and you’ll be mine.” Before Jayce can get another hit in, Viktor gently pries the joint from his hand hovering mid air between them. Jayce is floating on that comfortable level of high that unlocks easy confidence and ridiculously unfiltered love confessions. And apparently, as today’s special, proposals, too. Viktor wants to keep him right there. “Eh, and what if I want to be the one to propose?” he asks, taking a slow drag of the little stub that is left of Jayce’s special birthday present. “I figured I’d save you the trouble of going down on one knee.” Viktor can’t stop the peal of giggles bubbling up from his chest. “How considerate and selfless of you.” Jayce squints against the sun to look up, cheeks dimpling with a dopey smile. He tilts himself more until Viktor’s hand on his forehead slips downwards over his face and against his lips. Viktor feels a little kiss to the inside of his ringfinger, before Jayce rubs his entire face into Viktor’s palm. “You feel that? That’s husband material.” Defenseless against this level of sappiness and the fizzing lightness of being probably even more baked than Jayce, Viktor splutters into laughter in response. “Not convinced?” Jayce asks and grabs Viktor’s hand to hold it still as he rubs his face even more intensely into Viktor’s skin. “Fine, I can’t argue with that,” Viktor admits, unable to get himself out of Jayce’s grip so he settles for squeezing Jayce’s cheeks until his lips form a big pout. “You win, you’re allowed to propose to me. When the day comes. And I’ll do you the favor of acting surprised about it.” Jayce can’t smile properly with his cheeks being held hostage but his eyes, clearly bloodshot around thick pupils, sparkle with joy. Viktor eases up when Jayce moves to speak, voice coming out low and pleased. “Viktor Talis sounds nice.” “It will be Dr. Viktor Talis,” Viktor corrects him, warmth flooding his face in what must be a ridiculously obvious blush. “So you’ll take my name?” Jayce asks, somehow managing to beam with even more blindingly bright happiness than before. “Well, it does sound nice.”

This is still a Piltovan spa, you’ll be surprised how expensive fruit juice can be if it comes in a coconut with a straw.” “And a little umbrella, I assume?” “Oh, you bet, Professor.” Jayce winks and Viktor’s stomach flutters in an approximation of butterflies he had assumed long extinct. “You don’t—No need for such formalities off campus. You just carried my naked, half conscious body out of a sauna in the middle of the fanciest nude spa in Piltover. It kind of makes the experience even worse when you remind me I’m supposed to be an authority figure to you. It’s Viktor.”
