(not even the story being good?). So I think that if it's engaging overall, the language might not be that big of a deal breaker. There might be some merit to sparingly use fantasy words, but if they are simple and not too similar it should be more digestible. 3/3

The addition of "political" to me signifies a more adult approach.
At my work today there was talk of specifically romantasy, by people who read but aren't necessarily fantasy fans, and their opinions were essentially "the names are weird but I'm reading for the drama", 2/

Spicy political fantasy is definitely a good descriptor! 10/10 would steal.
While niche it definitely has potential. The crowd who likely would enjoy it would probably also appreciate the honesty of remaining a worldbuilder rather than simplifying things to reach a wider audience. 1/?
