Just re-read this. It is the best thing I've read on oracy by far.
Just posted new blog on Bluesky and not (yet) on Twitter. Be interesting to see engagement. Will I fold and put it on Twitter too? Please help me avoid the temptation by reposting here!

Every year on the first Inset, Chris Fairbairn (my boss) gives the same talk about maintaining high expectations of all students. "High expectations" can't just be a slogan, it actually needs to mean something. Here's a blog with an example:

‘Adaptive teaching or reasonable adjustments’

“There are an array of small, carefully chosen adjustments that can have an impact on pupils that can be classed as reasonable adjustments, but they could just as easily be classed as adaptive teaching approaches…”

Adaptive teaching or reasonable adjustments?
“Is adaptive teaching the same thing as ‘reasonable adjustments’?” I get asked this question often when working with teachers and leaders on developing adaptive teaching. It is no surprise, given the...

A timely reminder that "Jewish" or even "Israeli" does not equal "fan of Netanyahu".

Imagine if during 2019-2022 the world defined all of us by Boris Johnson's values, actions and policies, assuming that we must have all condoned them in some way.

Things always lack definition from a distance.
Extraordinary image from the protest demanding a ceasfire in Tel Aviv. Crowd Solutions estimates 280,000 people currently there. It is 9:30pm and the temperature is 30°C.

The three biggest myths in education:

The system requires a third of students to be sacrificed to the GCSE gods.

Fantastic offer!
Same except not maths and at private schools I'll only do talks on elite reproduction.
Made same offer some time ago on the other place, but if you are teaching econ/politics/maths in a state school, and will pay my train/taxi, I will come and do a talk for your kids for free. If you are private I'll do one for a fee donated to a state school/charity.
